SHORT BIO

Marcus Giamatti is an actor, teacher, and a graduate of the Yale School Of Drama. Marcus founded his own acting studio in Los Angeles where he was the Master Teacher in Scene Study, Audition Technique, and Acting For The Camera. Marcus also serves as a counselor and mentor for actors around the world. Marcus currently teaches courses in acting and directing for film at for the University of California Santa Barbara FAMST He teaches courses as well in the UCSB Theater and Dance BFA program in Scene Study, Shakespeare, Directing, and On Camera Acting Technique. Marcus is currently the Director of Education at the Ensemble Theatre Company in Santa Barbara, where he has developed Education Outreach Programs and classes throughout the community and with local high schools. Including Adopt-A-High School, the ETC Young Playwright’s Festival and the Young Actor’s Conservatory.

Marcus has been a working actor for thirty years, best known for the role of Peter Gray, on the long running CBS Drama, “Judging Amy”. He has done over 100 guest spots, dozens of series regular and recurring roles, along with work in over 25 films. Marcus’ extensive theater credits include work On and Off Broadway, and Regionally all over the country.

He most recently Marcus was a series regular on Comedy Central‘s Big Time In Hollywood, FL., and the CBS crime drama CSI Cyber. He has appeared in over 100 guest star and recurring roles on television including Flying Blind (Fox Series Regular), Look (Showtime Series Regular), Tell Me You Love Me (HBO recurring) NCIS Los Angeles (CBS recurring), Chicago PD, The Mentalist, Monk, Fringe, CSI, Perception, Bones, NCIS, House, Medium, Cold Case, Lie To Me, Criminal Minds, Revenge, Franklin and Bash, The Closer, X Files, Cosby, Homicide: Life On The Streets, and Quantum Leap.

His film work includes: Starving in Suburbia, The Chosen One, Curse of Downer’s Grove, Hamlet, Necessary Roughness, Business of Strangers, Mr. And Mrs. Bridge, Judy Berlin, On The Doll, Three Ninjas Kick Back. Marcus’ extensive theater credits include work on Broadway in Horton Foote’s “The Young Man From Atlanta” and at Lincoln Center, in Shakespeare’s “Measure For Measure”. Off-Broadway he has appeared at The Manhattan Theater Club, Circle Rep, The Lambs and The WPA and Primary Stages, amongst others. Regionally, Marcus has worked all over the country, from The Seattle Rep, to The Guthrie, The Goodman, Hartford Stage, Long Wharf, Williamstown (over 20 productions), The Yale Rep and The Eugene O’Neil Theater Center.

Marcus is also an accomplished, professional, session bass guitarist, with a degree in Jazz Bass from the Stinnett School Of Music. He is a freelance author, having contributed to several books on baseball. He is also a regular feature columnist for MLB.com, ESPN.com, Sports Illustrated and MLB Insider’s Club Magazine.
