Description
In this class we will consider how films have mediated some of the most contentious and crucial dilemmas pertaining to health and the practice of medicine. We will explore the ways in which popular culture engages with the social and scientific contexts in which life and death decisions are made, as well as the anxieties about medical interference with biological limitations, from Frankenstein to Robocop, from monsters to cyborgs, from plagues to outbreaks. Satisfies seminar requirement.
