Biography
Carrie Jiang is a PhD student in Film and Media Studies at UC Santa Barbara. She received her MA in East Asian Studies from Yale University and holds a BA in Film and Media Studies from Swarthmore College. Her research interests include: Asian queer cinema and media, its intersection with sensorium and infrastructure studies. She would also like to interrogate the methodological meaning of “Asia” that underlies these connections. Prior to joining UCSB, she worked for Shanghai Theater Academy as a research assistant, where she helped finalize research projects on the history of Shanghai cinema. She also has a particular interest in fandom and popular culture studies in Asia.
