Biography
Ryan Williams is a PhD student in the Film and Media Studies Department at UC Santa Barbara. He received his BA in Film and Television Production from UCLA, and his MA in Cinema and Media Studies from USC. His research interests include decay and disintegration, new media formats, lost cinema, compromised cinema, and the archive. He has written on lost films from the silent and early sound eras, artist and filmmaker Bill Morrison’s unique mission to preserve filmic decomposition, as well as Home Movies and Avant Garde Found Footage Films.
